“Château de Roumégouse”, a superlative castle dating back to the 10th Century, rests regally in its own verdant, secular park, filled with rare species of trees and embraced by the towns of Rocamadour and Gramat in the quiet of south western French countryside.
Steeped in history, for centuries, local lore has the Château once was haunted by the lovely Resplendine of Rignac who died of a broken heart in the 11th Century.
Resplendine's fiancé participated in the First Crusade and died under the walls of Jerusalem. Resplendine died, upon learning the news of the death of her beloved. Since that time, legend has it her ghost haunts the corridors of the manor, just as in any good fairytale with its true quintessential castle.
Today this magnificent château plays host to many appreciative guests, providing demure elegant ambience, with its warm and inviting public salon, its wonderfully eclectic library filled with international titles and, last but not least, with its exceptional 12-acre grounds for long leisurely strolls.
Of course no first-class château would be complete without its own sublime fresh local cuisine to savour in sheer luxury.
